Reason behind the mummies in Egypt

You might have known that mummy is a dead body that has been dried out and preserved so that it last for many years. The reason behind that mummification is that, they beleived that after death, they would make journey to another orld where they would lead a new life. So they would need their bodies again to lead a new life. Even cats, dogs and other sacred animals were mummified.
